Canoeing

If you fancy trying canoeing, then in Ruffec you will find Canoeing Rejallant Ruffec on the banks of the Charente River. You are able to hire Kayaks and Paddle boards as well as bikes for those that don’t want to get into the water. The hire shop is open every day in July and August, but only weekends in May and June, with opening times between the hours of 10.00 am and 19.00 pm. Costs depend on how long you hire for, and may also involve a minibus journey to get you to the start of the course.

Bikes

Everyone agrees that we are blessed with the ideal countryside for bike rides. Our guests cannot believe how few cars pass them whilst they are out on the lanes.

We have recently added four adult bikes for our guests to use. However, the guests must provide their own safety equipment(ie helmets) and sign a disclaimer form.

We have entered into partnership with a bike hire company who are able to deliver bikes directly to your gite. The hire charge also includes a pump, safety helmet, security lock, and puncture repair kit.

There are four 18 hole golf courses within a 45 - 60 minute drive.

Fishing

A general course fishing lake is situated between Sauze Vaussais and Pliboux about a 10 minute drive.There is also a picnic area and restaurant on site.

Walking

There are a number of designated walks that you can follow. Alternatively, armed with a map, you can just make up your own route to follow.

Bird Watching

This is something that you can do either from the garden, or for those who want to add more ticks to their list, they can incorporate with a walk in the surrounding farmland. A list of birds seen or heard from the garden is available and hopefully you will be able to add some new species during your stay.
